Terms of service
Effective date: 16 May 2026 · Last updated: 16 May 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of AirVision, an open ADS-B flight-tracking platform available at airvision.live. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
AirVision lets you (a) view live aircraft data on a public map, (b) optionally run your own ADS-B receiver (Raspberry Pi) and contribute coverage to the open network, and (c) manage a profile, stations, and settings. The service is currently free of charge and provided on a best-effort basis.
AirVision is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FlightRadar24, FlightAware, ADS-B Exchange, PlaneFinder, or any other flight-tracking service.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, your legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.
- You are responsible for the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at legal@airvision.live if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You may use only one personal account. Bots, automation, and impersonation accounts are not allowed.
- Username is permanent. Once you choose a username during signup you cannot change it in v0.2 — choose carefully. We may make username changes possible in a future release.
- We reserve certain usernames (e.g.
admin, support, brand names, official-sounding handles) and may reclaim a username that violates these Terms.
3. Acceptable use
When using AirVision you agree NOT to:
- Use the service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users
- Scrape, mirror, or republish bulk data in a way that overloads our infrastructure
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code beyond what is published in our public repositories
- Submit falsified ADS-B data, replay-attack station feeds, or otherwise tamper with the data network
- Use the service for safety-critical operations (see Section 7)
- Bypass access controls, rate limits, or security measures
- Upload malware, exploits, or otherwise damage the platform or other users
4. Station operators
If you run an AirVision receiver, additional terms apply:
- You are responsible for compliance with your local laws regarding radio reception and data transmission. ADS-B reception is generally legal in most jurisdictions, but you must check.
- You retain all rights to the aircraft data your station receives. You grant AirVision a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to ingest, aggregate, display, and redistribute that data through the platform for as long as your station is active.
- You may delete your station at any time, which removes your data from the public network going forward (historical aggregated data may remain).
- You agree that your station's precise GPS coordinates are stored only on our private servers and that public API responses fuzz the coordinates by approximately ±5 km unless you explicitly opt-in to share precise location.
5. User content and conduct
You retain ownership of content you submit (display name, profile description if any, station notes). By submitting content you grant AirVision a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, applicable law, or basic decency, without prior notice in serious cases.
6. Intellectual property
The AirVision name, logo, and source code are owned by the operator. Server-side and Pi-side source code is published under permissive open-source licences in our GitHub organisation (specific licence is stated in each repository's LICENSE file). The aggregated flight data network is made available under terms published separately.
7. Important disclaimers
Aircraft data shown on AirVision is approximate and provided “as is”. ADS-B transmissions are unencrypted broadcasts received by hobbyist hardware. Positions, identifiers, and altitudes may be incomplete, delayed, spoofed, or wrong.
AirVision must not be used for any safety-critical purpose, including but not limited to aviation navigation, air-traffic control, collision avoidance, search-and-rescue dispatch, or emergency response. For authoritative aircraft tracking, contact your relevant aviation authority.
8. Service availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available 24/7 but make no guarantee. The service may be unavailable due to planned maintenance, third-party outages (Cloudflare, Supabase), or factors outside our control. We are not liable for downtime.
9. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of data, or non-infringement. You use the service at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AirVision and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from your use of the service. The total liability of the operator for direct damages shall not exceed €100 or the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater.
This limitation does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded under Czech and EU law, including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or damage to life and health.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with notice when reasonable. On termination your right to use the service ends; clauses that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) will survive.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via a notice on the site and, where reasonably possible, by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you continue to use the service after the changes take effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept the changes, stop using the service and delete your account.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of the Czech Republic have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection rules require otherwise.
If you are a consumer based in the EU, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be replaced by an enforceable one that comes closest to the original intent.
